Present value:「現值」指的是明天可能發生的事件在今天的價值。 Discount rate Liquidity premium Time preference Frictional costs Percentage play 波西格勸我們要活在當下,他說:「未來無法產生未來。」我想進一步衍生這句話:「未來也無法想像或預測未來。」我認為,你必須腳踏實地活在當下,才能夠想像未來;活在當下,你就不會執著於某個特定的未來,因而能思考此刻之後所有可能的未來。 西洋棋比賽結果的不確定性甚至比橋牌比賽還高,因為在橋牌比賽中,我有方法可以估算特 定分配的機率,因此可以採用「百分比打法」;但在西洋棋比賽中我完全不知道對手做出特定反應的機率,因此,你必須盡可能地設想更多可能性,再根據直覺(而非估算)來做決策。 現金流量折現模型純粹採用「放棄的投資」( foregone investment,譯註:亦即所謂的機會成本 )或「資本成本」(cost of capital)的方法來決定折現率,但如前文所述,對個人而言,非財務性質的因素可能極為重要,只根據「放棄的投資」來訂定折現率 ,會忽略一般人比較現今事物與未來後果時產生的價值差異。我認為,這些因素對組織而言也很重要,因此,組織在做重要決策時,也應該使用現值分析。 慈善捐贈年金(Charitable Gift Annuity, CGA)。 這種年金與保險公司提供的傳統年金相似,但慈善捐贈年金讓我可以把我的退休計畫與貢獻母校的作為結合起來,準確來說,我捐一大筆錢給學校,學校保證從我65歲起提供穩定給付給我,直到我過世為止。慈善捐贈年金和保險公司的年金產品唯一差別是,我付的錢被視為對學校的捐贈,等我過世後,扣除所有給付給我的年金,如果有餘款,就會全數捐給學校。所以,除了可以得到保障終身的年金給付,我還可以從學校預期在我過世後取得的捐款(以及他們用這筆錢獲得的投資所得)的現值中,立即獲得稅賦減免。
